2019 Bus Trip


Bus Trip to The Purple Hills of Mulmur
Took Place on Saturday, June 15, 2019

The following information is about our 2019 Bus Trip. Please reference for example purposes until we can share plans for our next, post-COVID pandemic event. 

Bus Stops:

Not So Hollow Farm ( offering:

  • Nursery of container-grown pollinator friendly trees, shrubs and perennials native to Ontario 
  • Kiosk shop featuringnative wildflower seed bombs, hand-made wreaths, native plant notecards, native bee houses, wren houses, wild fruit preserves, black walnut votive holders, gluten free products, educational handouts, fresh wildflower arrangements, local honey, hypertufa planters
  • Viki's Vegan Takeaway featuring vegan gluten-free prepared food

Mrs. Mitchell's Restaurant ( offering:

  • Choice of Starter:
    • Smoked Wild Mushroom Soup
    • Fresh Garden Salad
  • Choice of Main Entrée:
    • Chicken Cacciatore served over pasta
    • Fillet of Sole filled with lobster and cream cheese served with a Newberg sauce and basmati rice
    • Beef Tenderloin Tips sautéed with red wine, mushrooms, peppers and onions served on basmati rice
  • Choice of Dessert:
    • White Chocolate Cheesecake with fruit puree
    • Slice of Fruit Pie
  • Coffee or Tea

     Vegetarian and/or gluten-free options are available - please request during ticket-purchase.


Lilactree Farm offering:

  • A three-acre country garden combining thoughtful design with unusual plantings, garden rooms, artistic sculptures 
  • Plants potted up for sale, some rare such as double bloodroot, small trees and books by the owner


But trip includes a scheduled Tim Hortons stop in the morning for a washroom break and if needed, one in the afternoon as well. 




  • $89 each for society members
  • $99 for guests and non-society members

Ticket price includes motor coach transportation; venues as outlined above; lunch; all taxes and tips.


Bus Departure and Return:

Our motor coach departs at 8:15 a.m. from the Elgin West Community Centre at 11099 Bathurst Street in Richmond Hill, with an approximate return time of 6:00 p.m.


Participation is not confirmed until payment is received. Payment is non-refundable unless the bus trip is cancelled by The Richmond Hill Garden & Horticultural Society and/or HNA Travel. A signed Bus Waiver form must be provided to board the bus.
